Stories of Women Religious

Introduction

For many sisters with stories featured in this collection, becoming a woman religious did not mean a quiet, contemplative life, but a life of service. And while figures like Blessed Mary Angela Truszkowka and Nano Nagle met needs in their own communities, some journeyed further in order to help. These women traveled to unfamiliar places, over oceans and across continents, often at the risk of their own lives and health, so that they could assist in education and caring for the sick.
