Stories of Women Religious

Foundresses

Some women religious happily join monastic communities that already exist. Others may not find what they are looking for in them, and wish to start a new order. The stories featured in this section describe women who not only felt a calling towards a religious life, but also sought to found their own institutions. In doing so, they brought together new communities of women religious for the purpose of serving those in need.
