The World Cinema Directory is a freely-accessible, pre-print database of entries included in the multi-volume World Cinema Directory reference series. Included are films from 1915 to the present (with approximately a 2 years delay) produced in Japan, Australia & New Zealand, Russia, Italy, Germany, East Europe, Spain, Iran, and China, as well as American films (independent and Hollywood films are organized separately). The database is searchable by a variety of fields and may also be browsed by geographic region. Entries include general production information (English and original titlee; country; studio; key persons such as the director, producers, screenplay, cinematograper, art director, editor; genre; cast; and year) as well as a synopsis and critique. It is intended as an academic reference work; almost all entries were written by scholars or students of film, and all are signed.
