The drawing is a portrait of George Eliot, an author and poet.  She is the author of Adam Bede, The Mill on the Floss, Silas Marner, Romola, Middlemarch, and Daniel Deronda.  Her poetry includes The Spanish Gypsy, Agatha, Stradivarius, The Legend of Jubal, and A College Breakfast Party.
