Father Klemens Jagodzinski (1913-1973) was a young assistant at Transfiguration in 1942. He served his God and his parishoners in obscurity for his whole life, except for this hostile reaction to his pro-labor sentiments that brought him to Samuel Cardinal Stritch's attention. Just recently ordained in 1939, Jagodzinski must have picked up on the Church's social teaching at St. Mary of the Lake Seminary or in a priest's study club.
Questions
As you read these documents, reflect on the following questions:
1. How did Stritch react to Finn's criticism?
2. In what ways did Jagodzinski tailor his message to his fellow Poles?
